Weekly Mindfulness Practice
Every Sunday morning from 10:00-11:30, find peace, community, and mindfulness in the heart of the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve at Clear Sky Mindfulness Community’s weekly meditation group. No gurus, no dogma, no jargon… Just training in calm, awareness, and compassion.
Each session is appropriate for total beginner or experienced meditators alike and includes periods of:
- Guided seated meditation
- Mindful movement
- Silent seated meditation
- Mindful sharing
This gathering is offered on a donation basis, and newcomers are absolutely welcome. We believe that everyone could use a little more mindfulness in their lives! We just ask that you abide by our Guidelines for Communication to keep the space safe and sacred for everyone.
Clear Sky Mindfulness Community Guidelines
Adapted from East Bay Meditation Center’s Guidelines for Multicultural Interactions
- Try It On: Be willing to “try on” new ideas, or ways of doing things that might not be what you prefer or are familiar with.
- Practice Self Focus: Attend to and speak about your own experiences and responses. Do not speak for a whole group or express assumptions about the experience of others.
- Understand The Difference Between Intent & Impact: Try to understand and acknowledge impact. Denying the impact of something said by focusing on intent is often more destructive than the initial interaction.
- Practice “Both / And”: When speaking, substitute “and” for “but.” This practice acknowledges and honors multiple realities.
- Refrain From Blaming Or Shaming Self & Others: Practice giving skillful feedback.
- Move Up / Move Back: Encourage full participation by all present. Take note of who is speaking and who is not. If you tend to speak often, consider “moving back” and vice
- Practice Mindful Listening: Try to avoid planning what you’ll say as you listen to others. Be willing to be surprised, to leam something new. Listen with your whole self.
- Confidentiality: Take home learnings, but don’t identify anyone other than yourself, now or later. If you want to follow up with anyone regarding something they said during a session, ask first and respect their wishes.
- Right To Pass: You can say “I pass” if you don’t wish to speak.
Dana Offerings
Clear Sky Mindfulness Community is offered in the spirit of dāna—the practice of generosity that has supported meditation communities for centuries. Rather than charging a fixed fee, participation is supported through voluntary contributions offered in alignment with one’s means.
These donations help sustain the conditions that allow the community to gather each week, including the use of the space, basic materials, and the infrastructure that supports the group.
It costs approximately $120 per gathering to sustain the space and operations that make Clear Sky possible.
Suggested donation:
$10–$20 per gathering, or whatever feels appropriate for your circumstances.
Everyone is welcome regardless of their ability to contribute.
Clear Sky Mindfulness Community is hosted by Dandelion Retreats. Donations support the continuation of the community but are not tax-deductible charitable contributions.
