Facilitators

Marie Sheppard
Marie is a long-time mindfulness and focusing practitioner who is passionate about sharing awareness practices in ways that help people make concrete and lasting improvements to their lives…
Her interest in teaching was first kindled by the benefits that she experienced in her own life – both professional (25 years of international development, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa) and personal (as a partner, mother, daughter & friend.) Now in her “second act”, Marie teaches group classes and works privately with individuals and organizations, with a particular emphasis on people who provide care for other people. She practices in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, received a Dharma name from him in 2003 and is a certified trainer with the International Focusing Institute.

Miles Braun
Miles has practiced yoga for 30 years, including a 200-hour teacher training and occasional teaching…
During this time he has participated in multiple meditation/mindfulness workshops and retreats, including with leading teachers. He is a physician who has specialized in epidemiology, public health, preventive medicine and vaccine & drug safety at NIH, CDC, and FDA where he led a division. An adjunct professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine, he started in 2018 an integrative medicine initiative for young adult cancer patients and survivors, including massage, acupuncture, physical therapy and education on dietary supplements & mindfulness practices.

Kerrie Kyde
Kerrie is an ecologist whose primary interests in meditation practices include awakening connection to nature and resilience in the face of climate change…
A 2022 graduate of Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield’s Mindful Meditation Teacher Certification Program, Kerrie has taught multiple courses in mindfulness meditation from a largely secular perspective, with an emphasis on the connections between neurobiology and ancient Buddhist spiritual traditions.

Sam Cooper
Sam is a meditation teacher, clinical social worker, and artist with over 20 years of experience with dharma practice and philosophy…
He operates at the crossroads of micro- and macro-scale changework, fascinated by the interrelationship between individual awakening and collective liberation. Believing that conscious creativity is both the catalyst and product of engaged spiritual practice, Sam is passionate about sharing the art of contemplative lifestyle design. He has been teaching meditation in private and group settings since 2018 and graduated from Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield’s Mindful Meditation Teacher Certification Program in 2022.
